  • Hayward's review of Didion's "Blue Nights"

Poses good questions. What's beyond our horizon? He records no answers. Did Didion seek for them?

  • Didion

Writing as psychotherapy? Writing to find out what one is thinking does not constitute psychotherapy. It is evidence of intelligence and curiosity. It is evidence of life. Didion is meticulously honest and poetic in the intellectual endeavour that is this book; I become sad at reading this review and would encourage a second reading in a few years when the context of human experience may have shifted.
