Geist magazine to enter the world of online writing workshops (something we’ve had requests for) because Adora Svitak, a cute, articulate and smart ten-year-old got there before us. Here’s a girl who has mastered the art of the long sentence (she uses semi-colons too) and she’s been running around the United States teaching people how to write them (yikes!).

Adora was one of the children featured on Radio Australia (replayed on CBC’s Radio Overnight) in the middle of last night while I was not sleeping. She’s been home-schooled by her mother and has written over 400 stories and 200 poems that she types at a speed of over 80 words per minute. This brilliant marketer has managed to promote her book, Flying Fingers, on CNN, Oprah and the Montel Williams show, as well as with numerous You Tube videos.

She’s a cute kid (I love her current haircut) and she’s talented and smart, but why does she have to be a celebrity too? Apart from the potential to make vast amounts of money (duh).
