    As a newspaper scribe and word junkie, I spent my life wrestling with words. Stan's imagery in coastal anthems like "The Mary Ellen Carter," ,bar anthems like "Barrett's Privateers" and Canadiana like "Northwest Passage," and make him one of the finest poets ever. Combined with his music and his voice, he is a giant for the ages. Many of his songs could have been sung 100 years ago and will, I believe, be sung 100 years from now. Oh, yeah, and what about "Macdonnell On The Heights"?
