I had never heard of Stan Rogers until he died. I read the articles in the Star following his death and found myself inexplicably in tears. For whatever reason I knew someone important had passed and I missed it. I had been involved in folk music before, now I was drawn back. I found Stan’s recordings and devoured them. I found more Canadian Folk recordings and since then have become a folkie. I volunteer at festivals and clubs. I write a newsletter for a club. The central focus of my life has become Canadian acoustic music. All because a certain man died in a plane crash and I shed tears for a stranger.
