Geist Columnist Daniel Francis receives Award of Merit

On April 11th, Daniel Francis, long-time Geist con­trib­u­tor and edi­to­r­ial board mem­ber, received the 2010 Award of Merit from the Vancouver Historical Society, for “his sig­nif­i­cant con­tri­bu­tions to the his­tory of Vancouver and British Columbia.” Danel Francis writes a reg­u­lar blog, con­tributes often to Geist (includ­ing the new issue 76), and is the author of many books on local his­tory, includ­ing Red Light Neon: A History of Vancouver’s Sex Trade (Subwayand LD: Mayor Louis D Taylor and the Rise of Vancouver (ArsenalPulp Press).
