Perhaps I should have worded

Perhaps I should have worded the last sentence differently. I was wondering if using GPS would eventually mean that human males would lose their ability to spatially rotate things in their heads and start turning the map around too. Just a conjecture about evolution.

You lost me there when you took that left turn from the topic of GPSs and veered into gender generalizations...   :-)Personally I prefer using a sextant, combined with data gleaned from the surrounding terrain: the location of moss on the trunks of trees, the migration paths of birds passing overhead, and the amount (in seconds of arc) by which true north deviates from magnetic north; it never fails.
