Ahmet Altan is a Turkish writer and journalist. Altan was accused of sending “subliminal messages” to support organizers of the 2016 failed coup against President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s government. He was sentenced to life in prison. Following worldwide public outcry, he was released from prison in 2021. Altan wrote I Will Never See the World Again in his prison cell.
