Amazon Falls contributes to the genre in another heartbreaking way.

Obviously comparable to Sunset Blvd, several spins here make the story fresh: Jana is a B-movie actress, well-known but not worldly famous, still waitressing to make ends meet, chauffers her poor boy-toy to his dj gigs, and mentors a young actress who is really a portal to Jana's younger, fresher days. Jana is increasingly desperate for the break that will put her back on top, but as things really start to unravel the day before her 40th birthday, it becomes clear that Jana was never really on top, even of B-movies.

First time feature director Katrin Bowen illustrates a believable world of hope and illusion and April Telek inhabits it completely.
