Sourdough Rendezvous 2009

Michał Kozłowski

The Sourdough Rendezvous weekend has kicked off. It's been around officially since 1964, and in various forms before then.

The competitions include the Flour Lift challenge, where men hoist over 800lbs of Robin Hood flour on their backs and carry it about ten meters.

The dogs pull sleds of President's Choice Lamb & Rice Recipe dog food. Last I heard the dogs were attempting 550lbs.

There's a snow sculpture challenge. The scultpures are then left until they melt sometime in the summer.

And the Keystone Kops will lock up anyone who is not wearing a Rendezvous button. Though I have heard conflicting reports on this. Some say you can be locked up for not having a good time, others say that men are locked up for not having a beard and women for not wearing garter belts.

Other events include the axe toss, the wife carrying contest, and, for women, the harriest legs competition.
