How Many Verses There Were

THE EDITORS

The song “Northwest Passage” has a long and well loved history with my family. We have been singing it all together since I was a little child. I remember falling asleep at night listening to my mother and stepfather singing it to my younger brother. When it came time for my older brother to get married, my stepfather sang the song and my younger brother played percussion. The song was played again at my wedding last summer with a big group of us in a circle on the dance floor singing along—my, we had forgotten how many verses there were! I look forward to the younger brother’s wedding to get us all back together for another round of a well-loved song.
