Winter Night

THE EDITORS

One cold winter night in Winnipeg in the late seventies, a friend and I were doing our laundry in Osborne Village. She said a friend of hers was going to pick her up and I could catch a ride home. Two guys drove up. One of them I recognized as Mitch Podoluk; the other I didn’t know and didn’t get a good look at. The next day, over at my place, I put Fogarty’s Cove on the turntable and asked my friend if she had ever heard of Stan Rogers. She looked at me and laughed, and said, “didn’t you know that was Stan who drove you home last night?”
