Beat

Blaine Kyllo

Beat (2) stars Canada’s own Kiefer Sutherland (who recently got his groove back in the Fox series 24) in an amazing performance as William Burroughs in the early days—before he truly started writing and before he shot his wife Joan during a botched reenactment of the William Tell story. I saw only a pre-release screener; the actual DVD was to have included a commentary by Gary Walkow, who wrote and directed. I bet Walkow’s got good stories about the sources he used in creating the film.
