Many congratulations to Geist contributor Annabel Lyon on the nomination of her second novel, The Sweet Girl, for the 2012 Giller Prize.

This is Lyon's second nomination: her debut novel The Golden Mean was nominated for the 2009 Giller and won the 2009 Rogers Writers' Trust Fiction Prize.

Another Geist author, Billie Livingston, was also nominated for her work One Good Hustle.

A big congratulations to both writers!

The Giller Prize jury announced its longlist of books in the running for this year's award and selected 13 titles out of 142 books, put forward by 51 publishers, from every region of Canada.

This year's jury is made up of Irish author and screen writer Roddy Doyle (Dublin, Ireland); Canadian publisher, writer and essayist Anna Porter (Toronto, Canada); and American author and satirist Gary Shteyngart (New York City, USA).
