David Collier wins Award

Congratulations to Geist contributor David Collier on winning the 2013 Doug Wright Award.

David Collier, a writer and comics artist whose work has appeared in Geist for 15 years, won a Doug Wright Award on May 11, 2013. His book Hamilton Illustrated (Wolsak & Wynn) took the Pigskin Peters Award for the best experimental comic.

Founded in 2005, the Doug Wright Awards recognize and celebrate Canadian cartoonists and comic artists. The Pigskin Peters Award is bestowed upon the most promising avant-garde comic or non-traditional work.

Visit the Doug Wright Awards site to hear Collier's interview with Jonathan Goldstein on Wiretap, and to view the goofiest book-award acceptance speech we've ever seen. Congratulations, David!
