We followed Stan to Vancouver Folk Festivals many years. But my favorite Stan memory was when he played Harpo’s in Victoria, B.C., a funky and intimate now-defunct nightclub that hosted the world’s finest. Stan and his brother Garnet and David Edie were in fine form and the music and humour flowed. One of my fave lines of Stan’s that night was when he said that we who hooted enthusiastically were “first-time drinkers.”
