Meet the Reading Collective

The Editors

Behind every issue of Geist is a remarkable group of volunteer readers whose insight, curiosity and generosity help shape the magazine. Over the next few weeks, we’re introducing you to members of our Reading Collective, who devote their time to reading submissions and sharing their perspectives with the editors. If you’ve found a piece you loved in a recent issue, there’s a good chance it was one of these readers who recognized its potential from the very beginning.

Loghan Paylor’s first novel, The Cure for Drowning, was the winner of Canada Reads 2026 and was longlisted for the Giller Prize. A graduate of The Writer’s Studio, they have an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia and divide their time between teaching, writing, and co-owning a game company. Loghan lives in Chilliwack, BC.

Morgan Maclaren Beck lives, writes and thinks in Montréal, QC. She holds an MA in English Literature and has worked as a teaching assistant in academic and creative writing courses. Her time is best spent reading others’ stories and writing her own.

Ranveer Joshua Jadhav is a recent English literature graduate pursuing a career in communications and editorial work. He reads widely across cultural theory and fiction, with a particular interest in how literature builds community. He lives in Toronto, ON.

A big thank you to all our Reading Collective members past and present.
