Police, adjective, brilliant

Police, Adjective, a young police detective named Cristi follows a teenager through the grey streets of Vasilu, Romania. Then he watches the same teenager smoke with friends and later he watches the house of one of the teenager’s friends. At other times Cristi sits at his desk writing reports of his surveillance or just thinking. Oh, and he smokes a lot, and avoids his boss. To say this movie starts out slowly would be an understatement but it turns out that watching Cristi walking, standing around, smoking and thinking for approximately 105 minutes is worth it because it’s the perfect setup for the final 15 minutes of the movie when the absurdity of the system that Cristi is part of is made clear—thanks to his condescending and manipulative boss, a blackboard and a dictionary. Brilliant.
