Precious: remembering the book, not seeing the movie

At dinner the other night, my friend asked me if I'd seen the movie "Precious" yet and when I told her I don't usually do things that Oprah recommends, she reminded me that several years ago I had reviewed the book that the novel was based on. I had no idea that "Precious" was based on that book, and I didn't remember that the book was called Push, although I did remember that the book was red. My friend remembered my review much better than I did (and she loved the book too) and as she told me what I'd written I remembered how much I loved that book (which may be the best argument for NOT seeing the movie) and I have to admit to some satisfaction knowing that I discovered that story way before Oprah did.
