Random Acts of Poetry 3: “Did I Sing?” by Kate Braid

Reading this poem is like watching a youtube clip of Glenn Gould playing: it's full of rhythm and movement and at the end Gould comes out of the music to ask the question "did I sing?"

"Did I Sing" is from A Well-Mannered Storm: The Glenn Gould Poems, published by Caitlin Press in 2008.

On Tuesday, October 19 Kate Braid will be reading at La Fontana Caffee (3701 East Hastings), 8:00 p.m. She will be accompanied by jazz bassist Clyde Reed and the warmup act will be an open mic for which the sign-up is at 7:30.

This is part of the Spoken Ink reading series which is sponsored by Burnaby Writers’ Society and
League of Canadian Poets.

Blink is a documentary film from National Geographic, which follows a Montreal family with four children, three of whom have retinitis pigmentosa, a genetic condition causing gradual loss of vision and probable blindness. They decide to set out on a trip around the world, in order to fill their children’s visual memories, so that they can at least recall the world and its wonders.
