Earlier this weeek, TSN debuted Vancouver Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo reading poetry, which proves one of two things: the Vancouver goalie has as a sensitive side, or he has gotten his hands on a copy of the Geist 20th Anniversary Retrospective which features a look back at a Geist classic: Haiku Night in Canada.

In 2005, during that awful dark time we call 'the lockout' we held a little contest and invited readers to write haikus to fill the empty spot in their souls. We got many really good responses, although I don't think any of them came from professional hockey players. I guess they were too busy playing Celebrity Poker.

Now, however, Luongo has introduced hockey 'pro-etry' to the world and made it cool to be both sensitive and sweaty.

Something to consider: what would a Don Cherry haiku look like?
