Stan in the Dark

THE EDITORS

I have always been an avid canoeist. Singing “Barrett’s Privateers” is a must on trips. In 1979 Stan was playing outdoors in Medicine Hat when the power went out. Most left but we stayed. Stan, Sylvia Tyson and other performers came out onto the grass and with the aid of flashlights played and sang. I called for “Barrett’s Privateers” and sang heartily along until my wife jabbed me in the ribs and proclaimed, “Be quiet, you’re drowning Stan out!” The day I sang with Stan Rogers. What a memory.
