The first passenger vessel through the Northwest Passage was the Lindblad Explorer. She carried many naturalists, both professional and amateur. From a relative, Dennis Puleston, who was one of the professional naturalists, I learned that they sang Stan’s song each night during their successful trip. Dennis Puleston was the founder of the Environmental Defense Fund that fought the government to stop the use of DDT on Long Island in the 1960s. Dennis died last year at age 95 and Stan’s song was sung by a number of us at his memory service. Stan was an inspiration to those that inspire us!
