Summer of Bowering: October

In the Summer of Bowering, Geist blogger and Poetry Is Dead magazine Editor-in-Chief Daniel Zomparelli will be reviewing George Bowering's latest poetry collection, My Darling Nellie Grey. The collection is divided into twelve chapters, named for each month of the year, and Zomparelli will review one chapter a week all summer long.

Bowering's October chapter "Tocking Heads" is a hilarious response to newspaper headlines. I could go further into this, but instead I will direct you to a free download of the chap book. Since I am not giving a full review of this week's chapter, I have googled my ass off and found some of the cover images of the chapbooks. This came about from a conversation with Warren Dean Fulton, pooka press publisher, who created the US Sonnet's chap book. Enjoy the miniature visual essay of the chapbooks I could find. (Note: some chapbook presses did not display covers so I don't have them.)

("Montenegro 1966")

("A Knot of Light")

("U.S. Sonnets")

The rest of the chapbooks were impossible to find. Apparently you can't google everything. Please note that Poetry Is Dead issue 2 is finding its way to a local bookstore or chapters near you.
