Stan’s brother Garnet, who sang and performed with Stan all the time, has forged a very successful independent career since Stan’s death. On his website there’s a Q&A section, including the question, “Are there any CDs you would particularly recommend?” His taste is eclectic, but of course he includes a Stan CD: Between the Breaks Live. “‘Northwest Passage,’ ‘Delivery Delayed’ and ‘Lies’ are killers,” he writes, but then he concludes, “Anything except that fucking ‘Barrett’s Privateers.’” I have to say I agree with him. The song has always driven me mad.
