Setting their eyes on their prey, they focus their attention on the subtle movements within the plains. A rustle is heard near the lake: they take notice. They move in slowly as the sun sets. They smile, sniff the air; it’s easiest to prey on subjects in the dark. Be unseen. One could get a short glimpse of them, if they weren’t so easily frightened by human presence. Ah, the Canadian Poet would be a glory to set eyes on, but none have been photographed. Merely their remnants are left for all to look at and enjoy.
