Dear Suzanne Anton,

On November 19th I will be voting in a municipal election for the first time, and over the last few weeks I have been trying to learn more about local Vancouver politics. So when I caught sight of your and Gregor Robertson’s caricatures in a fellow transit-user’s copy of Metro this morning, I decided to go online to read the accompanying article.

Having read Metro’s interview with you all I can say is: you come off as one crazy bitch.

I can’t help but imagine that when you read your fellow mayoral candidate’s name just now you started foaming at the mouth like some rabid, wild animal, tearing out your own hair, while wailing “damn you Robertson and your ‘greenwashing chicken-coop-wheat-fields-water-meter’ bullshit.”

If you had simply stuck to arguing that Robertson prioritizes his green initiative, while neglecting all else (not agreeing with you, just paraphrasing), you might have come off as a solid political candidate. But by trying to diminish and ridicule sustainability in a city like Vancouver you instead come off as politically suicidal.

Your entire campaign seems to be based on smearing Robertson, and even though I haven’t decided who to vote for yet, I can tell you this: I’m not interested in helping to elect you as Vancouver’s first female mayor if there’s a highly probable chance that you’ll end up embarrassing yourself and this city.
