Trite Travel Titbits, A Lil Book of Poems

Stephen Osborne

Zine bargoon of the season: Trite Travel Titbits, A Lil Book of Poems by Jim Munroe, a tiny book (two by three inches) published by Lickspittle Ventures (c/o 66 Greyhound Drive, Willowdale ON M2H 1K3). Composed in pencil, printed on an out-of-tune photocopier and bound by a single staple. Emblazoned on the cover: Free!—No Cost!—Gratis! Drawing of a Dashing Toad on the back. The writing inside is spare, whimsical and quite compelling. Owing a little perhaps to the Richard Brautigan of The Springhill Mine Disaster, and other playful minimalists. Trite Travel is a brief account of a trip by bicycle and other means across the western half of the country, and much recommended. Pass this one on to friends.
