based on a new memoir by journalist Lynn Barber. The heroine is a London schoolgirl in the early 1960s and she is booksmart and in love with things that seem grownup – jazz, France, art. When she meets a man of sophistication who seems to offer the moon she falls for him and his lifestyle. Even when he and his friends are revealed as crooks Jenny can’t let go of a dream that seems so much more fun than a future slogging away at Oxford. It’s a great entertaining film even though it does wrap up way too fast in the last few minutes.
