Superb article. I was there. I listened to your show on Coop Radio. Many of the musicians you mention in the article are old and dear friends. Some I knew before they formed bands.

In the Ghetto

As much as female rock/pop music is a ghetto, pity the Canadian female musician. Canadian musicians barely get attention outside of their native country, where they are given airplay as required by law. No such law promotes women musicians.
Also, Erma Franklin originated "Piece of My Heart," and it was another woman that is remembered for the song. A white woman. Lucky for Janis she wasn't Canadian.
