Annie

Patty Osborne

Annie by Luanne Armstrong (Polestar) was supposed to be for my fourteen-year-old daughter. It looks like a young adult book so I wanted to get a young adult's opinion. But before I gave it to her I thought I'd sample it: I like to keep abreast of what my kids are reading. Annie is like an old-fashioned western except it's about a teen-aged girl who sets out with only her horse and her dog for company. She's searching for somewhere to settle down and along the way she meets some interesting characters and has some close calls. The story trots along at a good pace and not every problem has a simple solution. When I finished the book and handed it over to my daughter I warned her to wait until she finished her exams because she wouldn't be able to put it down. She did and she wasn't.
